Jain emoji proposal

In April I was welcomed by my friend’s family in India. It’s a beautiful country in which I love many aspects, but this short blog post isn’t a travel guide. My friend and his family are Jain. It’s an ancient religion that promotes non-violence, which translates to a rigorous vegeterianism. I really enjoy their customs (and became myself vegetarian). However, I found out that despite +5M Jains, they don’t have their own emoji. In the religion category for emojis, nothing’s dedicated for Jains.

    My Mac Setup 🍎

    I love setting up my computers. So much so that I reset everything two or three times a year. Over time, I’ve gotten into the habit of noting down the essentials I need to feel comfortable. I could have used Nix to have a config-as-code, but I find the learning curve too steep. So I fall back on the good old Homebrew to reinstall everything manually. Maybe one day I’ll have the will to use Nix properly—who knows?

      After 12 cloud and DevOps certifications, I can tell you that I’ve learned a lot. Those little virtual badges have managed to stimulate my dopamine, and the reward isn’t just a chemical reaction in my brain. Some people ask me about certifications, and I want to summarize what I say to them into a single article, so that you too can benefit from this system which, in my opinion, values the skills of everyone, but still needs to be nuanced in the professional world.
